Crusade for Christ

It’s easy for a Christian to lose his or her way. Being a Christian doesn’t mean you are no longer affected by the horrible things in this world. It means you are fighting a battle each day in order to stay on the path God has set for you.

The silver lining in our battles comes in the form of the the one true Light. We are NEVER fighting alone.

God has given us the instruction and direction we need, we just have to use it. Don’t let the world choke out the Word. Set yourselves apart to be warriors for Christ. Battle each day as if He might return by night. Because He could.

In 2 Chronicles, chapter 20, Jehoshaphat and his kingdom were undergoing a foreign invasion. Jehoshaphat took to prayer and fasting in order to protect his subjects (Judah). “And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord.” (2 Chronicles 20:3) Through this prayer, God offered the kingdom mercy.

“…Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2 Chronicles 20:15

“Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.” 2 Chronicles 20:17

In faith, Judah marched toward the battle. They didn’t do so with plans to fight, but with plans to sing praises to the Lord in the face of their enemies. Their faith was rewarded, as God took down their adversaries.

“And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.” 2 Chronicles 20:21-22

There is no earthly reason these people should have lived through a battle, only armed with their faith. That fact alone proves that we serve a God who is more than capable of controlling the worldly conflicts we are presented with today.

The very same God who helped those believers; the same God who allowed David to take down Goliath with a slingshot; the same God who allowed Daniel to escape the lions den, is the God we serve today.

If you find yourself facing a battle that seems impossible for you to overcome, you might be right. But you have to remember that the battle isn’t yours alone. As a child of God, you are in the presence of a force to be reckoned with.

God has offered us the very same mercy that was presented to Judah all of those years ago. Through Jesus Christ, we have an incredible arsenal at our fingertips. Don’t let it go to waste while trying to fight your battles with the world’s weapons.
